Energy Conservation
PROCEED provides home repair services that enhance energy efficiency, and improve the health of those living in the home to age and income-eligible households. Over the years, these services have saved countless families in Union County thousands of dollars in heating, cooling, and healthcare bills.
Senior Home Repair
The Senior Home Repair program provides minor home repairs for residents of Union County who are at least 60 years old. Home repairs eligible for consideration should be $500 or less, and should increase or restore the individual’s health and safety. Feasible home repairs include, but are not limited to, fixing a door or broken window, installation of grab bars, toilet repair, and window insulation.
Repairs must be modest and often involve replacement or minor carpentry. Staff members conduct an in-home consultation and assessment of needs, and provide services on a most-needed, most-efficient basis. As there is often a waitlist, families and individuals are encouraged to request services as soon as possible and to understand that they may only receive one service at a time, depending on the scope of the project.
Weatherization Assistance
Through the Weatherization Assistance Program, we have been delivering energy efficiency services since 1976. As part of the program, professionally trained technicians perform on-site home energy audits using state of the art equipment. Steps taken to maximize home energy efficiency can include, but are not limited to: wall and attic insulation, sealing of air leaks, and the repair or replacement of existing heating systems.
To be eligible for PROCEED’s Weatherization Assistance program, those living in the household must be residents of Union County or Somerset County and meet specific income guidelines. This program is available for both homeowners and renters.
How do I find out if I am eligible for either of these programs?
- Call our office at (908) 351-7727 ext. 215
- Schedule a home visit appointment and/or energy audit with our staff
What is completed at the home visit appointment?

What is completed at the energy audit?
At the energy audit, staff will identify outside drafts, and inspect heating systems for safety and efficiency.
